Ghana's Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, recently made a surprise visit to veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong in Kumasi. The "Wo haw ne sen" hitmaker has been unwell for some time, and upon learning about his condition from his aides, Dr. Bawumia, who was on a campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, took the opportunity to visit the ailing musician.

Yaw Sarpong is currently recuperating at the residence of popular Kumasi-based pastor, Prophet J.Y. Adu. Accompanying Dr. Bawumia were Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, and fellow gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong.

Chairman Wontumi explained that he was recently informed about Yaw Sarpong's illness by Nicholas Omane Acheampong, and he in turn informed Dr. Bawumia upon his arrival in Kumasi.

During the visit, Nicholas Omane Acheampong led a heartfelt rendition of Yaw Sarpong's popular song, "Wo haw ne sen," which has even inspired one of the most popular radio social programs hosted by broadcaster Afia Konadu on Peace FM.

Before leaving, Dr. Bawumia presented a cash donation of GH₵100,000 to support Yaw Sarpong. The grateful musician expressed his thanks to Dr. Bawumia, and Prophet J.Y. Adu also conveyed his appreciation and wished the Vice President well.
