Ghanaian footballer Hans Kwofie has tragically passed away at the age of 35 following a car accident. The accident occurred on Friday, June 21, at Dadwen in the Ashanti Region while he was traveling to his hometown, Dompim Pepesa.

Kwofie had an illustrious career in the Ghana Premier League, where he played for Heart of Lions, Medeama SC, Bechem United, and Ashanti Gold. Recently, he was part of Legon Cities and Aduana Stars before joining Nepal’s Birgunj United FC in 2023.

Kwofie was widely known for being the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League during the 2017/18 season, scoring 17 goals for Ashanti Gold. His death has prompted numerous tributes from fans and the football community alike.

Sports journalist Gary Al-Smith expressed his condolences on social media, highlighting Kwofie’s impact on the league and his career across various clubs. Similarly, Fentuo Tahiru of Joy Sports lamented the loss, emphasizing Kwofie’s significance in Ghanaian football.

Despite never playing for the Black Stars, Kwofie was a prominent player in the home-based national team, earning respect and admiration for his contributions to the sport.
